Located about 32 km from Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh, Darkund place is famous for forest rest house. To reach here, you have to come from Chamba district to Dharwala or Bharai village. From Dharwala to Kundi, you have to come by a car to Toor village, and then from here you have to walk 4.5 km further to Darkkund Forest Rest House. And if you go from Dharwala to Bharai village then it is 2.5 feet less than Darkkund. The most famous is the Forest Rest House in Darkund which was built in the 19th century. This rest house is situated in the midst of deodar, pine or moss plants. Cedar deodar (Cedrus deodara) is an evergreen coniferous tree that is well suited for its weeping habit (beautifully hanging branches). It is often used as a specimen tree in parks and other large gardens. It’s too scary to say Darkund, but if you come here once, you won’t have any words to say, because the nature here will mesmerize you. From Darkund Rest House the road leads to Lamdal Lake. Lamdal is a group of 12 lakes whose path is very difficult; it takes 2 days to reach the lakes. If you want to stay in Darkund, you will need to take tent, food, gas or stove, bed with you because whether you will get a room in the rest house there it is not sure. If you have a good acquaintance with the forest dwellers then the room will be booked. If you want to enjoy nature then definitely go here and it is the best place for meditation, yoga. Here you can also do up-down in a day, you can take packed food from home and come here enjoy nature to the fullest.
